Ed Bible Memorial Scholarship

ED BIBLE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Reason:
The Hereford Breed lost a great friend and colleague in 1998. All too often legends are not recognized in their own time. Ed Bible joined the APHA in 1973, and through the following 25 years he supported and encouraged the senior, junior and Poll-Ette associations. He left a positive imprint on the Hereford breed and industry. For this we honor him with this scholarship.

Purpose: To help a Hereford Junior member finance his or her education.

Award:
The scholarship will consist of a plaque, which will be presented to the recipient(s) at the Junior National Hereford Expo, and a $500 check, which will be awarded later.

Requirements:
The applicant must be a high school graduate (graduating the year of applying) or a college student who is a member of the National Junior Hereford Association, and one who has not previously received the Ed Bible Scholarship.

Criteria:
Completeness of application
Grades and classes
Communication skills
Leadership experience
Hereford experience

Preference will be given to the applicant(s) who best fulfills the requirements and criteria.

Process:
Three (3) copies of high school transcript (if recent high school graduate)
Three (3) copies of high school transcripts and three (3) copies of college transcripts, if less than one year of advanced education is completed.
Three (3) copies of transcripts if more than freshman year of advanced education has been completed.
Four (4) completed copies of the application
All applications and appropriate transcripts must be sent to the Ed Bible Scholarship chairman. (Scholarships chairman’s address will be listed.) DEADLINE: JUNE 15TH

A panel of three judges will evaluate the applications. Interviews will be held at the Jr. National Hereford Expo in July. Finalists will be notified of the interviews prior to the interview process.

Recipient responsibility:
Within 30 days of the presentation of the scholarship, the recipient(s) will write a thank you to the Ed Bible family, sending this thank you to the Ed Bible Scholarship chairman first. The chairman will then forward it to the family. (The thank you should include recipient background, interests, future goals and plans, etc.) After this process has been completed, the recipient will receive the $500 check.
